Can You Safely Exercise While Having a Fever?

Sagar Pednekar is a fitness expert at Gold s Gym in India. It is best to take a rest and give your body a chance to recover.

No activity will help you relieve your symptoms if you are suffering from a fever and other symptoms such as joint pain or muscle pain . Your body needs to recover and rest when you’re sick. You are under stress and your immune system is weak. Therefore, you should be on alert for any symptoms that may worsen. You should drink plenty of water and get extra sleep. You should also consult a doctor in order to lessen the severity of symptoms.

Sagar says that you shouldn’t perform high intensity exercises for the first five to six days after you have recovered. Don’t over-tire yourself and do moderate-intensity exercise. You may end up with a shortness of breath and stressing your muscles.

If you have other symptoms such as a runny or stuffy nose or sore throat, then yoga poses like may help to reduce the severity of those symptoms. This is according to yoga expert Sunaina Rekhi.
