India has seen a rise in the number of influenza viruses since the beginning this year. The majority are caused by Influenza A subtypes H3N2 and H1N1. These viruses are easily spread by an infected individual through respiratory droplets produced when coughing, sneezing, or talking. It is crucial to diagnose the H3N2/H1N1 virus early in order to reduce the risk of influenza-related mortality and morbidity.
The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization has approved a chip based RT PCR test that can detect and quantify diagnose H3N2/H1N1 within an hour. Truenat H3N2/H1N1, developed by Molbio Diagnostics can determine if you are infected with either the H3N2 virus or the H1N1 one.

The company claims it’s the first Real-Time PCR point-of care test that can confirm the diagnosis of Influenza, in just an hour.
The company also states that it will be compatible with the Truenat machines already in use at private laboratories and hospitals throughout the country. TruenaH3N2/H1N1 is the latest addition in its respiratory disease portfolio.
